Fashion design and clothes- their fabrication techniques, the play with the materials and the characteristics of textiles are closely related to the production of space and architecture. As well as in architecture, fashion creates a second skin that can adapt to the human body. In terms of spatial organization we can learn many things from techniques that are used by fashion designers.

 

Within the scope of the workshop individual formfinding design strategies were developed in order to generate innovative spatial concepts. Essential to this process was the exploration of materialities of spatial models and a systematic developement of its geometry during the design process. During the workshop we explored how a soft materiality can generate a structure through a modeling strategy that enables the transformation from a soft element to a tectonic spatial structure on a human scale.
