Reconstruction of a house in Strovolos, Nicosia

The new owner wanted to rebuilt the house so that it could respond to his family needs, functional and aesthetical ones.

In order to do so a new metal stucture was added to support the additional volume of the northwestern part of the building. In the main view, a plain surface of raw concrete plays a dominant role upon the design theme. It is a dinstictive feature of the design which can reflect both natural and artificial light creating a stunning effect. The surface is also a sound barrier blocking the noises from the vehicles that occupy the road in front of the house.

In the interior space of the ground floor, the main element of the design is a central segregative unit which organises the functions of the plan. The unit also serves as a TV holder, a fireplace, a bookcase and a storage space.    While it’s main role is to seperate the space into different rooms, it allows the view between the neighbor parts creating the feeling of a single space.
